Do you feel the lure of the Caribbean? Are you longing for the magic of island romance? Are you vying for exotic and extraordinary scenery for your wedding photography? Botanical gardens and rustic barns are nice, but what about something a bit more striking as the backdrop of your future nuptial mementos?
Here, off the beautiful eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, just a short ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres boasts some pretty choice scenery for a photo-shoot. Punta Sur, makes up a system of gorgeous natural cliffs overlooking the water, showcasing amazing views of Cancun. These beautiful, white cliffs are accessed through Garrafon Natural Reef Park, which is open to the public for a small fee.
If you’ve been fantasizing about nabbing unique wedding photos you can plaster all over social media, or maybe just hang by the mantle and cherish that incredible feeling of quiet, enchanting love, then Punta Sur has something to offer you. Less than five miles from the luxurious Privilege Aluxes resort, even the most haphazard snapshots will look fabulous against the drama of Punta Sur. From the white sandy rocks with crashing azure waves in the background, to the rocky, exhilarating cliff sides of the natural reef park, to the wall of jungle flowers covering a Mayan ruin, the only thing to worry about is getting upstaged by all that natural beauty. (Kidding!)
Imagine a long, silvery wedding dress rustling in the ocean breeze against the glowing blue of the Caribbean behind you and your honey—it’s loveliness itself. But Punta Sur has more than garden-variety ocean views. It’s actually the very first place in Mexico to be touched by the rays of the sunrise every morning, which definitely adds to the mystery and beauty of the place. In addition to Punta Sur’s unique connection to the morning sunrise, it’s also home to a breathtaking Mayan temple ruin, honoring the moon goddess. So in one sense, Punta Sur is the place in Mexico where the sun and moon meet. Hello romance!
If all the natural beauty and drama of the sun, moon, waves, cliffs, jungle flowers, and ancient ruins aren’t quite enough for you, then you don’t have to worry. A short walk from the cliffs, you’ll find an incredible outdoor art installation with pieces by 23 artists from Mexico and around the world. We are so proud to work with talented wedding photographers, sneak a peak from this photoshoot from April 2016, that are able to capture stunning images against the backdrop of this breathtaking sculpture garden featuring artists’ innovative and beautiful interpretations of the spirit of Mayan civilization.
The only question that remains is… when will we see you?
