Punta Sur

An absolute must-do daytrip from our tropical paradise of Privilege Aluxes is Punta Sur, the far southeastern tip of Isla Mujeres.

It’s certainly one of the island’s single most beautiful spots: a cliff-edged cape jutting into the Caribbean, the easternmost terra firma in Mexico. Here the “Cliff of the Dawn” (Acantilado del Amanecer) marks the first place in the country to greet the rising sun each and every day. You can see the skyline of Cancun from this dreamy vantage, though the overwhelming vista is one of turquoise-to-azure waters unfurling to the horizon.

Dry Sauna vs. Steam Room Experience

Saunas are age-old rooms of healing and relaxation used for centuries in parts of Eurasia, with similar setups (such as the North American sweat lodge) found in other corners of the globe. Nowadays saunas based on Scandinavian, Russian, Japanese, and other designs as well as related heat treatments can be found just about everywhere—in home setups and resort spas alike.

Isla Mujeres Murals

Intricate handicrafts, brightly painted houses, statuary of both the above- and below-water kind—you don’t have to look hard on Isla Mujeres to find artistry. And some of the most striking public art on the island are the Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans murals, which bring the exotic majesty of the undersea realm that surrounds our Caribbean outpost to the streets.

What is an Isla-Holic?

Have you ever heard the phrase—the diagnosis, maybe we should say—“Isla-holic?”

We count more than a few of our regular return guests here at Privilege Aluxes among this category, which unlike many other pathologies is a pretty wonderful thing to suffer from.
