Isla Mujeres has a tropical climate. From June to August it is hot and humid while from September to October it is rainy and the rest of the year is usually hot and dry.

Language

The most widely spoken language on the island is Spanish, but other languages are also spoken in the resorts and stores, such as English.

Currency

The Mexican Peso (MXN) is the official currency, although dollars (USD) are accepted in some places.

Transport

To get from the island to the peninsula it takes 15 minutes by ferry. On Isla Mujeres you can get around in cabs, golf carts, motorcycles, bicycles and more.

Size

Isla Mujeres, located in southeastern Mexico off the coast of Cancun, is only 7 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide.

The fastest way to get to the island is by ferry. From Cancun it is a 15 minute ride. Ferries to Isla Mujeres leave from Puerto Juarez, El embarcadero, Playa Tortugas and Playa Caracol.
